Why does my vaginal discharge turned red or brown?

About every month my mucus changes to red and it’s a lot heavier than usual.Then it gets lighter after three days and it turns brown and I don’t like it. I have to wear a diaper to keep it from dripping down my legs and getting onto furniture and floors. Should I go to the doctor?

    it’s your period. The brown is old blood. If you are having heavy brown bleeding you should see your doctor.
