vaginal odor after sex?

i have battled with bacterial vaginosis in the past so i have done some major changes to hopefully prevent it. I have read many books and researched websites for this problem. I have changed my diet to no wheat or gluten, no acidity drinks, and no pickled or fermented foods. I have also been taking 30billion live probiotics daily, eating yogurt like crazy (thank god i love yogurt), plus taking daily does of l-lysine, folic acid, vitamin e, flax seed(omega-3), b-12, and vitamin c. in the last two months i have noticed that vaginal odor only after sex…so i went to my doctor. they tested me for BV and it came back negative…? so what the heck is going on with me? i am truly losing my mind… i do also have ulcerative colitis but i have not been having any problems with it. i do know that antibiotics kill off good and bad bacteria thats why i dont take it the only thing ive used for BV is the creams or gels.

After sex – protection or unprotected? If unprotected sex, could be the scent of his semen you are smelling (all people have their own unique musky scent) and maybe it doesn’t mix well with your scent.

Vaginal odor after sex?

I just recently had sex for the first time on saturday (December 12). I’m 22 years old and have taken birth control pills 2 weeks before we started having sex. We also used a condom. We changed it numerous times during the act for "just in case" purposes. I’m a big worrier about getting pregnant.

I’ve heard people say that the problem could be the semen in the vagina… but a condom was worn.

I still have the smell and it’s been about 3 days. Any ideas what this could be? What I should do? Thank you!

First of all, it is unnecessary to keep changing the condom. No need unless he finishes and you want to keep going, obviously you would change it, but if he didn’t finish then you can wear it the whole time. Especially if you are on the pill as back up you should be fine. You could have an allergic reaction to the condom, which is causing the smell. Especially if you used spermicide or it had spermicide in it. Are you itching or burning? If you are, then go see an OBGYN ASAP. If things don’t clear up in a couple days, I would see one anyways, just to see what’s up.

First of all, kudos to you for waiting to have sex.
As far as your odor, women react to sperm differently. Also, is there any burning or irritation with the smell? It could be an infection or a reaction to the birth control. The only way to find out is to see your OB/GYN. Otherwise, on here you will probably be give a lot of maybe’s or probably’s.

Below are some links that may help. Good luck!

It’s possible that you could have bacterial vaginosis .
I’ve had it and it’s horrible ! But it’s nothing serious.
Basically every woman has a certain amount of bacteria in the vagina which is why women get discharge. When we have an overload of bacteria, this causes extreme amounts of discharge as well as a foul smell. It’s really nothing to be worried about.

Try drinking lots of cranberry juice as that will help tons. Also, you can see a doctor to get a prescription or creams to use.

    Don’t stress, it happens :)

    Hope that helped

First, I think you are amazing for being so careful about not getting pregnant, but the one person was right when they said you don’t need to change the condom until he ejaculates. I’m not a doctor and I don’t have a description of the smell, but it may be your own vaginal fluid has changed. Did you use lubricant? It could be that. I encourage you to go onto the websites the other person listed and maybe see a doctor if this really starts to bother you. If the smell is not accompanied by itching or burning then you should be fine. It was definitely not semen.
