I’m 16, and I’ve noticed some white vaginal discharge. A few days before I noticed that i was wetter than usual for no reason. Now, I have slight white discharge and a little bit of pain if I move weird. It’s not a sharp pain, just uncomfortable.

I have not had sex, so it’s not sexually transmitted.

  1. You may have some inflammation. Have you changed tampons or are you taking bubble baths ? started washing with a new soap ? Using different pads ? Switched to thongs or started wearing tight jeans? All these things can cause some irritation in the vaginal area and the body produces extra moisture to help. If you have been on antibiotics for something, there is a chance of yeast infection, but that is usually white chunky discharge and horrible itching. SO if any of the things I mentioned might be the cause, Change it. If there are no recent changes, a doctor visit is needed, but not the ER.

  2. Pain where – you could have pulled a muscle or have digestive issues. Or you could have ovary pain or pelvic pain.

It is normal to have a white and/or clear wet mucus discharge daily, every other day, weekly, on and off throughout the day, on and off throughout your cycle. In my day they just called it discharge, now they call it cervical mucus/leukorrhea. It will accumulate in and around your vagina, in the folds of the labia minora and even above the clitoris. It’s part of the female reproductive cycle. The vagina is self-cleaning. This same discharge increases the closer you get to ovulation and when you are sexually aroused. It is what makes sex possible. This normal discharge will also continue after you get your period, after puberty and for the rest of your life.

Some girls do produce more discharge than others. You can wear a pantyliner if it bothers you. Do NOT use a tampon for every day discharge. The amount and consistency of your discharge can vary throughout your cycle due to hormones, diet, water intake, exercise, illness and medication, even if you have never experienced it before. Your normal white/clear discharge will turn yellow or dry yellow when exposed to air. If it is coming out yellow, then you probably have a bacterial infection and need to see a doctor. It will also stain your underwear, as it has a bleach-like effect.

    Different Types of Discharge:

White: Thick, white discharge is common at the beginning and end of your cycle. Normal white discharge is not accompanied by itching. If itching is present, thick white discharge can indicate a yeast infection.

Clear and stretchy: This is "fertile" mucous and means you are ovulating.

Clear and watery: This occurs at different times of your cycle and can be particularly heavy after exercising.

Yellow or Green: May indicate an infection, especially if thick or clumpy like cottage cheese or has a foul odor.

Spotting Blood/Brown Discharge: May happen right after periods, and is just "cleaning out" your vagina. Old blood looks brown. This may occur when you are ovulating/mid-cycle. It can also happen right before a period. Your first period can look like this also.

Different types of infections, which a girl can get at any time:

    Signs of yeast infections:
    White, cottage cheese-like discharge
Swelling and pain around the vulva
    Intense itching
    Buy Monistat 7 over-the-counter
    Take Difulcan

    Signs of bacterial vaginosis:
A white, gray or yellowish vaginal discharge
A fishy odor that is strongest after sex or after washing with soap
    Itching or burning
Slight redness and swelling of the vagina or vulva
See a doctor, as this will not go away on its own
    Always wipe front to back
    Don’t wear thongs
    Take lots of probiotics

Discharge- very milky looking, liquidy, smoky white colored, completely odorless, and comes out most after I pee.

  1. Yes, it is normal to have vaginal discharge. Depending on where you are in your cycle the colors and texture of the discharge are an indication of when the period is coming.

Please talk to your mom as well for even more information.

  2. Glands inside your vagina and cervix make small amounts of fluid. This fluid flows out of the vagina each day, carrying out old cells that have lined the vagina. This is your body’s way of keeping your vagina healthy and clean. The discharge is usually clear or milky and doesn’t smell bad.

The color and thickness of the discharge change with your monthly cycle. The discharge is thicker when you ovulate (when one of your ovaries releases an egg), when a woman is breastfeeding or when you’re sexually excited.

Changes that may signal a problem include an increase in the amount of discharge, a change in the color or smell of the discharge, and irritation, itchiness or burning in or around your vagina. This is called vaginitis. A discharge that’s stained with blood when you’re not having your period could also be a sign of a problem.

I would recommend that if you have any of these signs or any concerns regarding this you consult with your doctor.

    Good luck 🙂

ps: it doesnt hurt or sting
it has no oder

4 Replies to “vaginal discharge…?”

  1. Sounds like bacterial vaginosis and it can become chronic. Go to the ob-gyn to have them check this out.

  2. If it has an unpleasant odor it is a yeast infection. If there isn’t any odor then don’t worry about it, you are normal.

  3. It is normal.

Once you start puberty a white and/or clear, non-foul smelling discharge is normal. The vagina is self-cleaning. It means your hormones are working. This same discharge increases the closer you get to ovulation and when you are sexually aroused. You don’t ever want it to go away. Buy pantyliners if it bothers you.

    Different Types of Discharge:

White: Thick, white discharge is common at the beginning and end of your cycle. Normal white discharge is not accompanied by itching. If itching is present, thick white discharge can indicate a yeast infection.

Ok, the discharge after having a baby is called lochia. Anyone ever have that or the smell after your normal monthly menses? I do and the doctors don’t know what it is. Anyone?
PS. My baby will be 13 yrs. old
This has been an ongoing problem. I have had a D& C, nothing helps. It still comes after my period every month.

4 Replies to “Vaginal Discharge?”

  1. Sounds like something might be out of balance. Try getting some boric acid capsules as it may be an asymptomatic yeast problem. One capsule inserted vaginally each day for 4 days during menstruation might do the trick. The brand I use is called Yeast Arrest. The treatment can take up to 4 months, but you should notice a difference sooner.

  1. go see a doctor.. i have a heavy amount of dischage, to, but it isn’t green. if its any color but clear, white, cream, along those lines, its unhealthy. sweetheart you really need to see a doctor

  2. urinary track infection….u can use antibiotics to cure the infection,,,,good luck,
    rachel

  3. It is better if you go to see the doctor. Alternatively, you can try herbal products called ‘Manjakani’ (Oak Gall) products. It helps to remove the unpleasant odor as well as excessive discharge.

how normal is it for me to be having an increase in vaginal discharge? 22 weeks on friday

5 Replies to “vaginal discharge?”

  1. Very normal. Luekkorea is what it’s called. As long as it is not blood and has no odor

  2. If the discharge is milky/lotiony and mild smelling, and not causing you any discomfort like itching or burning then yes, this is very normal.

    It is called leukorrea.

If the discharge becomes discolored and smells offensive, or you experience itching and burning then see your doc.

  3. Very normal its because your body is making more estrogen and more blood flow to your vagina. You will notice that you will get more as your pregnancy goes on too. Call your doc if it has an odor, makes you itchy, or has blood in it as it could be your mucus plug.

How much is normal? The last week or so I have been having an extreme amount of it. It doesn’t smell or itch. It’s been very problematic because it seeps through my pants. My period starts in a week. Thank you!

6 Replies to “Vaginal Discharge?”

  1. sounds like u have an exessive amount you should go to the doctor. it mite have something to do with your period my sister wears a pad sometimes

  2. its normal especially when your on are about to start your period just wear some pantie liners u will be find

  3. the discharge is natural cleaning it may be heavier at times, during these times use panty liner, also always wipe front to back, wear only cotton crotched panties, don’t wear tight clothing in crotch area, the vulva must be able to breath!

  4. If the discharge started a week ago and your period is due in a week then I would say you are ovulating.
This is perfectly normal, it can vary greatly from not being noticeable to quite heavy and will happen every month approximately 2 weeks before your next period is due.
If you find it is heavy and is seeping through your panties then wear a panty liner or pad.
If it continues after your period or starts to smell & becomes itchy it may be a yeast infection, but I think you are probably just ovulating.
    Best wishes hun ?

  5. yeah sometimes it normal, and they sell these panty liners for discharge, and whatnot. 🙂

  6. i think it means that your body is going through menstruation, thats what happened to me, maybe u might start a little early or something..idk for sure

i get really bad discharge before my period, it’s not infected it doesn’t smell horrible, it’s just clear white stuff that smells like.. well, vagina. haha

it like soaks my panties though, it’s horrible. does this happen to anyone else?? thanks 🙂

13 Replies to “vaginal discharge?”

  1. Throughout a woman’s cycle, her cervical mucus will change drastically. In the middle of her cycle when her egg can be fertilized and she can become pregnant, the cervical mucus is very thin.. almost like egg whites..which allows easier travel for sperm. Towards the end of your cycle (right before your period), the cervical mucus becomes thicker because your egg hasn’t been fertilized.

  2. its completely normal every girl gets it some more than others its just embarrasing to tlk about

  3. yes hon, its called life and sadly we will continue to get it
but its kinda for a purpose like sex

  4. It happens to me too. I was convinced that there was something wrong with me but my doctor said that I was fine! Use a pantyliner to absorb the fluid so it doesn’t stain your panties.

  5. Yeah, it happens to everyone. It’s really nasty, but that is just one of the many wonders of being a woman. Eww…….=)

  6. I get this also. It’s normal, you’re fine. Just wear some panty liners like everyone esle said, it makes you feel dryer and it won’t make your panties a mess.

  7. Yes,this is completely NORMAL!!!But you should ALWAYS wear a small pant for not to get any bacteria from your wet panties.

I was treated for a vaginal bacteria infection about two weeks ago. Now I’m having this very odd discharge. It’s kinda of brown, I’m talking LIGHT LIGHT brown, but it’s kinda jelly like? It’s very odd and I’m not sure what it is. Can anyone give me any idea’s or hints?

Btw, I’m 17 years old. On the ortha evra birth control patch, sexual active [not for six week though] and 100% sure I DON’T have any STD’s.

5 Replies to “Vaginal Discharge?”

  1. GROSS!!! Sorry, but this is a question for your doctor…not to gross us out and hear a lot of lame answers from Yahoo! Answerers. Call him/her ASAP.

  2. First of all get off that patch! Haven’t you heard the damages it is doing to women’s bodies!?
Second light brown discharge could just be some slight bleeding, from an irregular period. To be sure you should see a GYN. Discharge can come in all kinds of consistencies.

  3. i think it might be the patch they recalled the patch version of birth control. you might talk to your doctor. hope this helps

I’m late on my period. I used the bathroom and had a little bit of thick, brownish discharge. Does this mean I might be pregnant or can it be my period coming?

6 Replies to “Vaginal Discharge?”

  1. sounds like your period…some woman have pink discharge, some have brownish discharge…

  2. Could be your period coming. Why not take a home pregnancy test just to be on the safe side?

  3. Not sure, you could be pregnant or not, your question is not detailed. But it is possible that your period is about to come, unless if your not sure and you feel any symptoms of pregnancy like sleepines, nausea etc. then you might be pregnant. if you’re not sure, get a pregancy test to see.

  4. I know someone who has been on the pill for several years now and barely menstruates anymore–she says that once a month all she gets it a little of the brown discharge, the same discharge as one gets when nearing the end of your period, and that’s it. But it is in fact her period.

I’m currently 8 weeks pregnant. I’ve noticed my vaginal discharge sometimes is a yellow color. I don’t have any itching or burning or anything like that. I’ve been tested for STD’s in the past and all have been negative and I’ve only been with one person (my husband). I’ve also always had normal paps. Is it normal to sometimes have a yellow vaginal discharge?

12 Replies to “Vaginal Discharge?”

  1. Yes. It is totally normal and even has a name: leukorhea (sp?). It will last through your pregnancy and sometimes will be more noticable than others. Congrats on your pregnancy.

  2. This is VERY normal i have it to and it very common in pregnancies. The farther along you get the more discarge you will get to, just another great thing that happens when you are pregnant nothin to worry about!

  3. It could be a yeast infection wich you can talk to your dr about that next apt, but its normal for pregnant women to have discharge as long as its clear, white, or yellow nothing else GOD Bless and congfrats

  4. Yes, It is completely normal. You probably will not stop producing this discharge until postpartum. My recomendation is to wear a pad. Never wear a tampon, as it can possibly cause a yeast infection.

  5. Very very very very normal, even if your not pregnant.

Remember its good bacteria protecting the vagina.

    Don’t worry!

Plus in pregnancy, it decreases a lot more than normal.

  6. yup.. get used to it and wear a lil pad.. it happens througout your pregnancy.

    Congrats!

  7. don’t worry about the yellow discharge that you are haveing as this is common in most pregnancyies in the early stages and often in later stages as well. but if it gives you discomfort i suggest that you tell your dr or midwife and they will help you but do not take anything without first asking them about it.

  8. yup it’s normal, as long as there is no blood in it or it’s not dark or i know this is gross, but if you smell something sweet when your peeing then you need to call your doctor. (it could be the amneotic fluid (sp).
don’t worry too much your seems fine, this is my fourth child & i’ve had thissame prob with all 4. nothing a panty liner won’t take care of….congrats on the baby!!

  9. Yes, it is %100 normal. You will have increased discharge throughout the entire pregnancy. I have found that wearing a panty liner helps along with some powder on the liner.

  10. I had the discharge I went in the doctors and they said it could be an infection. they gave me some meds and it went away. She said alot of times when you take vitamins they clear out your system "too" much and it kills the good germs, which allow the bad ones to grow. I was taking extra iron , and the prenatal pills. I would get checked just in case.

  11. yeap, its normal, im 7 weeks pregnant and have the same thing

    good luck with your pregnancy!

  12. Yes it sounds normal to me. I am now 9 weeks pregnant and I have experienced the yellow as well.

Just make sure you are drinking lots of water to help keep hydrated and prevent UTIs.

my discharge is normal but once it dries up it has this sweet sickly smell.is everything o.k or do i have something to worry about.i just started on a new contraceptive an injectable

4 Replies to “vaginal discharge?”

  1. it might also have something to do with your diet?

Maybe see your doctor to be sure ….

  2. contraceptives contain hormones that makes a woman prone to have fungal infection. these hormones alter the normal pH of the vagina making it alkaline that makes it conducive for fungal growth. just wash frequently using Lactacyd to retain the acidity of the vagina.

  3. hey don’t worry
just drink more water than what u normally drink every thing
    will be fine ………

  4. It sounds OK. Don’t worry. Wish I cld smell that , how is it sickly n sweet at the same time?

I stated getting vaginal discharge 1 year ago, but nothing else about my body shows I’m ready for my period

3 Replies to “Vaginal Discharge?”

  1. You could narrow that down by taking clues from your body. During puberty, when your body becomes sexually mature, you’ll have some of these changes that show your period’s on its way. (By the way, these changes may happen in a different order than listed here.)

    * Developing Breasts. First, you’ll get breast "buds". (Your breasts then can take up to 3-4 years to fully develop.) Generally you will get your period 2-3 years after your breasts start developing.

    * Growing Pubic Hair. Right after your breasts start to form, you’ll start developing pubic hair. It will be soft and thin at first, then gradually become coarser. Your period usually arrives around 1-2 years after the hair development.

    * Discharge. This is the big sign. You’ll start to experience vaginal discharge that will be either white or yellowish. If you like, you may want to start using Alldays Pantiliners to protect you underwear. You period should start around 6-12 (but up to 18) months after the start of discharge.

There’s one more way to figure out when you’ll start menstruating: Ask your mom. You’ll probably get your period within a year or so of when she got hers.

Since you’ll only have a general idea of when you’ll get your period, you might want to do some planning.

Most girls will use pads at least for their first period. Your first period will probably be fairly light so Always Thin Maxi Regular or Always Thin Ultra Regular would be a good choice of pad. If you are physically small, you may want to consider Always Thin Ultra Slender. It’s a good idea to keep a pad or two hidden in your locker at school, and carry another in your backpack. This way you won’t be caught off guard when it does happen.

Relax, you will get your period, and you’ll have them for a long time!

  2. Well, it doesn’t matter, maybe it just wanted to keep clean that is all and there is no signs of other things, no matter it will come when it will come.

  3. Ok,I have girls from my class that are completely flat chested(so am I) and they got their periods and I already have a vaginal discharge so I believe that you don’t need much "on your body" to show that you are ready for yours. If you have discharge for already a year then you might be getting it soon, the biggest answer here (I think the first one) mentioned a lot about it.Good luck!

i’m 25 weeks preggo and i’ve been experiencing the normal discharge, but i’ve recently noticed that it is more watery than normal. there is no foul odor or unusuall coloration, it is just extremely watery. i find myself changing my panties 3-4 times a day because they get soaking wet. besides wearing a pad, any recommendations? Thanks in advance.

8 Replies to “vaginal discharge?”

  1. during pregnancy your discharge will increase, as to whether it should be watery or not, i am not so sure. i think it is best to call a doctor just to be on the safe side.

  2. It does not sound like an infection… however when you go to the doctor next, I would be sure and mention it! It could be that your baby is pressing on your bladder making you go in small amounts. Good luck and best of health to you and your baby!

  3. sadly there’s no recommendations. Just keep the pad or pantyliner on. Sorry hunny it’s just very normal

  4. This happens. It’s possible that you’re leaking fluid, but not too likely. As you get further along, the amount of discharge increases as the birth canal gets ready- cervix ripening and whatnot. But be safe and go see a doctor.

  5. Please please please. Talk to your doctor ASAP! You could be leaking amniotic fluid. That is not a good thing it can lead to some SERIOUS complications such as infection and miscarrage! DO NOT HAVE SEX UNTIL YOU SEE YOUR DOCTOR!

see i have discharge like any other women but mine all of a sudden stinks like bad! my mom says that it might be an infection but im nto sexually active…i have a volleyball tourney will it be okay???? cause it smells bad
BTW I HAVE A VOLLEYBALL TOURNEY TOMORROW SHOULD I GO OR NOT????????

7 Replies to “Vaginal discharge?”

  1. if the smell changes drastically something is wrong. could be a yeast infection. you need to see a doctor.

  2. you can get a vaginal infection whether your sexually active or not you need to go to the doctor before it gets worse you dont want a pelvic infection, they are reall bad

  3. are you eating plenty of yogurt regularly? Try danactive, that’s what my wife drinks, does the same thing, live cultures. you don’t ned to be sexually active to get an infection, it’s not a disease, it’s a bloom of bacteria that is normally kept to safe levels.

  4. You don’t have to be sexually active to get an infection. Your mom should take you to the Dr. and they can give you something that will get rid of it pretty quickly.

  5. You need to see a doctor. your mom is right, if it has been normal and now has an odor, either you are not cleaning yourself well enough, or you have an infection. It does not matter if you are sexually active or not. You can still get one. If you cant get right in to the doctor, start drinking Cranberry juice now. Drink as much as you can everyday until you can be seen. Also, you are probably going to start having a really bad burning sensation when you pee, that means a urinary tract infection. There is an over the counter medicine called AZO…It will not cure the UTI, but it will help to ease the pain. If the discharge becomes colored or lumpy, (gross I know) It means a yeast infection. You can also buy over the counter medicine for that. Good Luck, but either way, please get checked out.

I noticed an increase in amount of discharge, the color is clear and it smells kinda like glue, but its not a bad odor….I am also three days late on my period, which is very rare…I am worried because it’s a lot of discharge and there are no other symptoms so I really don’t know what it could be…

4 Replies to “Vaginal Discharge?”

  1. Discharge like that is quite normal. So is being a few days late, don’t worry. If you miss more than 3 months, or the discharge becomes thick and foul smelling, then you have cause for concern.

  2. As long as the discharge doesn’t have a bad odor or look kinda "cottage cheesy" it’s not an infection…. it could be that your period is going to start… could be you are pregnant… take a pregnancy test to be sure… some have real early response like only being a day late and they can read it…

  3. Could you be pregnant? Sometimes pregnancy causes a change in vag. discharge. You could also have some sort of infection. It could be anything from a yeast infection, to a change in the natural "flora" or pH that has led to an increase in the growth of bacteria or an infection from an STD, or it could be just a change in discharge, but you should prob. go see a Dr because if you do have an infection then you need to have it treated because an untreated Vag. infection can lead to pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) which is serious and needs to be treated. Good luck and take care of yourself!!!

I’m not pregnant. But I’ve had this clear-like gel discharge. It seems like I’ve had this problem for the longest time. What is it? and what can I do to make it stop?
It also causes foul odor.
It’s a clear, sometimes white/slightly yellow.

10 Replies to “Vaginal discharge?”

  1. Are you sure it’s a problem? That’s one of the common signs that you’re ovulating. The fact that it’s clear means there’s probably nothing to worry about.

  2. mick is right. now if this helps some women "leak" more then others. i had a friend that was like that it drove her crazy she actually carried extra pantys with her, we used to tease her and call her a leaky faucet.

  3. more than likely its not a problem. women have vaginal discharge, which is normally white and slightly pasty in small amounts. we also have our own version of ‘lube’ that comes out when we’re aroused or ovulating. like a friend referred to it once: "I must be about to start my period, it’s like a slip ‘n slide down there!"
also, if you’re on birth control, certian ones can cause heavier amounts of discharge, such as the nuva ring.

the discharge however, is completely natural in light to moderate amounts. large amounts of thick, pasty discharge could be a yeast infection.
if you’re bothered by it, you could try getting the very light days style of panty-liners to absorb the liquid so it doesnt’ get on your panties.

  4. Its normal. However if it gets an odor or change color (yellow, green) tell a doctor

  5. vaginal discharge is normal in women. thats why when you get older panties come with that double lining down there. that is your vagina’s way of keeping "healthy" and maintaining the regular balance of healthy bacteria in there. what you have to watch for is if your discharge changes color, consistency or gets an odor. this means infection and you need to see a doctor for medicine.

  6. sorry the only way to make it stop is to have a complete hysterectomy, just kidding what you are experiencing is the bodies natural cleaning , provided you have no other complaints such as strong oder or irritation, at times it can seem worse if it’s a problem use a panty liner wear only cotton crouched panties, the increase of discharge may be because of feminine hygiene products or other assaults from a product you may be using such as non cotton panties

  7. The vagina is a self-cleaning organ. Really, it is. Since this this is clear and since you haven’t mentioned any odour, that’s just your vagina cleaning itself. That also means that you don’t make it stop.

  8. you have discharge everyone gets it before or after there period some people get it more then others

I am 26 and have no itching but have a yellow/green discharge with an odor and was wondering what this could be? I used a 7 day over the counter yeast infection treatment to no avail. I’ve had this discharge for years but always heard women have a natural discharge and thought that was it but it ruins my underwear and after asking around realized this isn’t normal. I’ve tried looking up what it could be on the net but found a lot of different vaginal infections it kind of became confusing.

I don’t have any insurance at the moment but wanted to know if there were any nurses/drs out there who may see this often? Thanks in advance.

4 Replies to “Vaginal Discharge?”

  1. Gardnerella Vaginalis. You need an antibiotic. Yeast infection treatment will only make it worse. See a dr.

  2. Vaginal discharge, itching, and burning are common symptoms of the various forms of vaginitis. Although the symptoms of these infections can be very similar, there are some differences to look for in the color and smell of the discharge.

Some vaginal discharge is quite common and normal for women of childbearing age. Normally, cervical glands produce a clear mucous secretion that drains downward, mixing with bacteria, discarded vaginal cells, and Bartholin gland secretions at the opening of the vagina. These substances may (depending on how much mucus there is) turn the mucus a whitish color, and the discharge turns yellowish when exposed to air. There are times throughout the menstrual cycle that the cervical glands produce more mucus than others, depending on the amount of estrogen produced. This is normal.

Sexual excitement and emotional stress have both been associated with a normal vaginal discharge. This discharge is a clear, mucus–like secretion.

I copied and pasted this information from http://www.emedicinehealth.com/vaginal. To me it sounds like a STD, and if you want to learn more go the website to check it out. Well, good luck with finding more answers to you question.

  3. Definitely gardnerella vaginalis – the antibiotic only takes up to a week at most and they have both oral pills and vaginal cremes for it. It’s nothing to worry about just get to the doctor as soon as you can! Bless, xxxx

  4. If the cream didn’t work then it isn’t a yeast infection. If you are sexually active, or having new partners continuously, then whether you have insurance or not you need to find a doctor asap because it may be something serious, and if you don’t get it checked now, you will be pulling more money out of your pocket to help cure whatever you have. However, if you are not sexually active it can just be a small infection. But when it comes down to it, since you’ve had this for quite a while now, it will only get worst so you need to get it checked out asap.

I think I’m on my period, though I am not sure because it’s come a week early. I’m experiencing a thick tissue-like discharge that comes in very larggeeee clots along with blood. I’m also experiencing more painful cramps than usual. I’ve had a multitude of yeast infections in the past, so I know this is not one. I’ve also just started taking the Depo shot again after being off of it for a year and I never experienced symptoms like this before. I recently started to have sex with my boyfriend.

Can anyone make anything out of this? I tend to be over anxious as is, so this is definitely freaking me out a bit :). I know it’s not an STD and I am much too young to have cervical cancer. If there’s a good explanation, I’d love to hear it! Thanks!

2 Replies to “vaginal discharge?”

  1. It could be the depo shot but its not definite, therefore I suggest waiting for another cycle of a period and see if this pattern repeats, if it does, better go consult your gynecologist.

  2. Since recently having relations, a STD may be present. Contact your Health Care Provider, and schedule an appointment to be evaluated…

when i woke up to use the washroom this morning as i was wiping my vagina..the toilet paper flooded with green discharge..so i took a shower and ever since i never had it again. yes i am sexually active..i am on the pill.. whats happening?

2 Replies to “vaginal discharge?”

  1. You could have gonorrhea or trichomonas. The symptoms for each vary from person to person. Gonorrhea causes a green discharge (if there even are symptoms) and trichomonas causes mass discharge.

Or you could have ate something that affected your discharge overnight.

I suggest you do STD tests– so many STDs don’t have obvious symptoms until much later and by that time, they have done damage.

  2. I would recommend checking with your dr about this because another possibility besides what the previous poster suggested is an infection that is called Group B strep. Pls check with your dr to evaluate this situation.

I have been having vaginal discharge for more than 2 years now(15 in May) and i still haven’t gotten my period. Everyone at school got theres a while ago and I havent. Am I normal. How can I tell it’s coming? Can i speed up the process?

4 Replies to “Vaginal Discharge?”

  1. Sweetie, vaginal discharge is normal in girls your age. It is also normal that you do not yet have your period. Menses can start anywhere from age 10 to 16 but there are girls that start as early as 7 and as late as 19. It is different for everyone! Also, if you are an avid exerciser or very underweight, you are a prime candidate for late onset. Just be patient! It will come when your brain and hormones signal your body that it is the right time for YOU. If you are really worried about it, ask your mom to take you to a gynecologist but, being honest, I would not worry about it since it is totally normal not to have your period yet. Sorry, there is no way to speed up the process. The only way you will know it is coming is if you are one of the unfortunate ones to get the symptoms of PMS: bloating, water weight gain, cramps, etc. Your time will come, honest!

  2. There are some disorders that cause delayed menstruation but anything before the age of 16 is considered normal, you may just be a late bloomer. Have you developed other signs of puberty, like pubic hair, breasts buds that develop into breasts, axillary hair, etc? All those generally happen before menstruation begins.

Personally I was also a late bloomer, got my period at 14 yrs 5 months and I was the last one. However, I was very fertile and still am. I also developed breasts later than others and they grew further after I had children (a nice surprise!) I found out this is common in female members of my family.

If you are nearing 16 yrs of age and still without your period, especially if you aren’t developing other signs of puberty, you need to see a doctor.

  3. Trust me it is a gift if you haven’t had your period yet. I wish I hadn’t gotten mine til I was in my late 20’s at least. Why do you want to speed up the process ?
Enjoy this time while it lasts.
I think we all need our head examined as females !
We’re all in such a rush to get our periods. Why ? Then all we do is bitch about it !

  4. Yes, it’s normal! Well…I think…I’m 13 and I already have mine, but I heard sometimes it’s not until 16 years.

Ok so I know that the daily Vaginal discharge is normal, I have no odors or anything like that, the problem is that it is excessive. I mean I know its not healthy to wear tampons everyday but i have to because I am so uncomfortable because of the discharge. I don’t know what to do, I just would like it to be less or happen like normal people and only at certain times of the month. It is so much everyday and it bothers me to the point where i think i am going crazy and I am really embarassed about it. What can I do??

7 Replies to “Vaginal Discharge?”

  1. The best thing to do is talk to your OB/GYN about this. You may have Bacterial Vaginosis which is caused by an overgrowth of bacteria in the vagina. This sometimes causes alot of discharge.

  2. Lighten up. If you think there is a problem, for starters don’t soak it up with a tampon. Use a panty liner, its healthier. Is this years long or is it recent? If recent and quite unusual you should probably check with a health provider, preferably not a western medicine practitioner as they are too industrial. Keep stuff out of there that does not belong in there (chemicals, douches, sauces, etc.). It cleans itself and clitty litter is part of the process. If its clear to whitish (even beigish) and does not stink, learn to like it. Men do. Consider yourself as slightly prelubed and ready.

  3. Using tampons every day is NOT a good idea. You can harvest bacteria by using them on a daily basis. Your PH level may be off. If you are sexually active, try the old flush out method with a disp. cleaning system ( you know the name) The same old teaching by our mother front to back cleaning and pads only( i can’t believe i just typed that) If the discharge is heavy and itchy you really need to see your MD. If it’s bothering you this much You may be relileved to get a professional answer, so you won’t be bothered with this anymore. Lots of luck!

  4. i always use pantiliners they are better. if the flow is too much just use a pad. If its OVER then go to the doctor.

  5. You will get a lot more discharge when you are ovulating–that is natural, and also helps us to know when we are ovulating–to help get pregnant, or avoid pregnancy. Like all the previous posters said–don’t use the tampons, it just isn’t healthy. You should ovulate approx 14 days from the fist day of your last period–plan those days ahead, and wear a pantyliner. We produce discharge for lubrication for sex, so you may see more discharge if you are thinking about that too. Try not to stress about it, it is totally normal, but if you start noticing an odor or yellowish-green color, then you should see a dr.

I’m 18, and I’m not exactly sure of what is normal and what isn’t. I find however that my.. discharge? I believe would be the proper word for it, but when I’m wearing darker panties, it will actually lighten the fabric.. like, the same affect as bleach or something. I wash everyday. Never gotten a papsmear or anything like that. Is that probably something I should grin and bear it, and go get asap? Or, what else could possibly lead to this problem?

4 Replies to “Vaginal discharge?”

  1. I think I know what you mean. Do you leave the underwear in the laundry for a long time? Maybe you should try washing them sooner after you wear them. Also Carefree pantiliners are very cheap (a whole pack for a dollar) and work great.

I think you’ll be fine – but you should get a pap smear yearly just as a precaution. I used to think that since I’m not sexually active I didnt need to go, but I realize now that I do – my body still changes from day to day and year to year regardless. Ask the doc to be sure when you go in.

  2. Discharge is normal in all women and nothing to worry about unless you have other symptoms such as itching, burning etc. Then you should see your GP. Otherwise it’s just part of being a woman.

  3. You did not describe what is the characteristic of the discharge. Ok if you already have your menstruation then it means you are already starting to ovulate. To ovulate means you are manufacturing millions of egg cells every month and they get out of your body every month as menstrual flow if no sperm has impregnated them. Ovulation causes you to have varying discharges all throughout the month.

you’ll have three kinds of discharges:

stretchy, clear and transparent discharges on fertile days

yellow, pasty, and mucoid discharges in nonfertile days

and red and mucoid of course during your menstrual flow.

now if you are having vaginal discharges that is not characteristic of any of this three, you’ll need to see a doctor specifically an ob-gynecologist and you should be totally honest to that doc if you want effective medical help.

  4. A clear discharge is a completely normal thing. I’m sure if you went into some of your friend’s laundry baskets, or even your mother’s, you would find stained panties. The only time discharge is not normal is when it is really smelly, and/or has a greenish color to it, then you need to see a doctor.

  1. vaginal discharge is your bodies way of cleaning out the vagina and is normal…every girl experiences it…it usually gets heavier when you are ovulating which is about a week or so before your period…the only thing to watch for is if it smells fishy, thick, and if it gets white (kinda like cottage cheese)…it should normally be a clear or a somewhat whitish color or if it comes with burning and itching it could be a sign of infection but what you describe sounds normal so there is no need to worry…the other thing im not so sure of what your describing but every girls body is different and every vagina is different, you can look it up on the internet about the different vaginas if you want…but everyone is different…you sound fine.

whats so dangerous about vaginal discharge

5 Replies to “vaginal discharge?”

  1. Left untreated some infections can cause Pelvic Inflammatory Disease that can make you sterile and wind up putting you in the hospital. Better to get an infection treated than to risk needing to go to the hospital by letting things go untreated.

  2. its not dangerous in some cases. if youre not itching and burning and the discharge doesnt smell bad or have a green or yellow color to it its most like fine. your vagina sucretes fluid to lube it and keep it from drying out, like for sex for example. if youre concerned then i would see a doctor. if you are itching, burning or it does smell or have a color to it then it is an infection and you need to have that checked out.

  3. Sweetie, vagina discharge is normal. It is in a way the vagina cleans itself, and releases/removes bacteria that is not necessary in the vagina.Normal vagina discharge should be colorless, white, and odorless outside of the normal vaginal odor.If there is a horrid odor, that is a sign that an infection is present and should be treated by a doctor. Some infections if left untreated can result in infertility. If you engage in sexual intercourse while an infection of some sort is present it is possible for your partner to contract this infection. If your partner isnt treated you can pass it back and forth through intercourse. Not only can an infection be present but an std can be present as well.If there is an abnormal odor and a color or if the discharge is "chunky" make sure you get to a doctor asap.Good luck hun and have a good day.

  4. Its not always dangerous. It depends on if its your normal amount. If it is something new or not normal for you, you could have an infection. An untreated infection could be dangerous, so you should see your doctor.

im haveing a white/slightly yellowish gooey discharge. this is the second time ive had it in a week. i looked it up on the net and im finding different things. one said it could be Trichomoniasis or a Mucus Plug. being im not pregnant thats im aware of lol i dont thinks its the plug. im pretty sure its cause im ovulating. however i couldnt find a direct answer to whether or not its due to becomeing pregnant. so could it be a sign or am i right im just going through my natural cycle?
thanks for the answers.

its not a yeast infection i already had that checked out. i had one a few weeks ago and treated it so its gone.

i forgot to add its like a mucus gooey. i did the finger test to see if it streaches and it does. so im still thinking its just my natural body cycle.

i wanted to get more info before takein the expense of seeing a professional so i know what im talking about and what they might say as well. thanks.

  1. If no itch or irritation it couldn’t be an infection so it very well could be. But check with your gyn to be sure.

  2. There could be a vaginal infection going on.. Yeast infection, Trichomoniasis is a possibility also.. Need to go see your doctor and let them do a vaginal exam and urine test to see whats happening..

  3. discharge is completely normal, now if its turning other colours and is making you worried like becoming more frequent and increased amounts, go to your doctor with your concerns thats what she/hes there for! he/she is happy to help better be safe then sorry.

  4. Excesive vaginal discharge particularly if its odorous and accompanied by itching or burning is symptom of vaginal infection ; a vaginal exam and sampling of secretions seen under microscope are a must to determine best way to treat

  5. I hate to ask this but does it smell? If you can, whenever you notice a discharge of color, try to smell it somehow. If it smells foul, then it’s more than likely a yeast infection or some other type of infection or imbalance. If there’s no smell, it’s probably just something to do with your cycle and horomones or something! Wait it out, see if you get any other symptoms. I used to have discharge like that from time to time and had to wear pantyliners. Everyones body is different!

  6. What does a guy know about a yeast infection? It’s not what you describe – it’s more like cottage cheese. And very uncomfortable.

The discharge you describe sounds normal, just a regular vaginal secretion. When you are sexually aroused, these secretions increase. And the quality changes during ovulation – may become thinner or thicker, I forget which. At any rate, if there is no pain, no itching, no burning, no "symptoms," then I would say it’s just your femininity, don’t worry.

my doctor said my uterus is infected and put me on antibiotics, that was 3 weeks ago and now i have been having a discharge? any ideas what it could be?

10 Replies to “vaginal discharge?”

  1. I would go back and see your doctor. Some discharge can be normal but excess discharge can be a yeast or bacterial infection.

  2. Sounds like the antibiotics did the trick and your vagina is finally flushing out the infection. Watch out for a yeast infection though, sometimes antibiotics will cause yeast infections.

  3. It could just be the infectionbeing pushed out.. .. if it’s greenish or smells bad I’d call the dr. If it’s clear or whitish and doesn’t smell, it’s probably ok.

  4. some medication can give a female virginal thrush, ask your doctor about it, he could give you some different treatment.. but do remember, women do have a natural discharge.

  5. The antibiotics is pulling out all of the infection that you had. Don’t panic! Use all of the antibiotics the way they were prescribe and if the discharge continues then call to make an emergency appointment. I’ve worked in OB/GYN for 5 years so I know what I’m talking about.

  6. The antibiotics probably took care of your uterine infection, but now you have a vaginal yeast infection. Bad karma! Treat the yeast infection promptly.

  7. You should call your doctor to be sure. He/she is the one who has your history and knows your body. Discharge could be alot of things. If there is a smell to it definitely call your doctor. It’s probably part of the infection you already have. You don’t want the infection to get worse so contact your doctor to make sure the antibiotics are working. You may need stronger antibiotics or a different kind.

  8. Unfortunately antibiotics cause yeast infections.
It doesn’t mean that they did not work–it is just one of the potential side effects.
Please report back to your doctor though.
None of us are doctors and if you are then none of us are YOUR doctors.

    PLEASE SET ANOTHER APPOINTMENT W/ YOIUR DOCTOR—I KNOW, I KNOW—THE CO-PAY!!!!

  9. It is very important to understand that the population of “friendly” bacteria in a healthy gastrointestinal tract are of critical importance to not only digestion and absorption of nutrients, but also to your entire immune system.

And so when people take antibiotics, and the antibiotic kills off the majority of the population of friendly bacteria, along with the pathological bacteria we’re trying to kill off, that really upsets the normal balance of friendly bacteria.

The antidote is that after finishing a round of antibiotics, people should take what we call probiotics, which contain the friendly bacteria—usually some form of Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacteria bifidus (or bifidus).

Get a good supplement of "probiotics" from a natural health store:
high potency probiotics of 10-15 billion cfu (colony forming units) twice daily for two weeks following your last dose of an antibiotic.

I think that would be a huge break-through if we could get people taking probiotics after they’ve finished antibiotics—it would make a big difference.

I got off the pill 2 months ago and my husband and I have been trying to conceive. I don’t think that I am pregnant because I had my last period and in fact it was longer than normal (because i got off the pill) Now this month my discharge has increased, not alot, no odor no clumps… just a heavy discharge… Just curious if any women have experienced this coming off birth control… Just want a little peice of mind. Serious answers only please!!

  1. I have gone through the same thing when coming off of depo-provera shots (more reliable than the pill) because the homones are adjusting back to the way they had been. It is normal for whithdraw from any birth control medication. I do not know how long it will take for hormones to readjust themselves from the pill, but the heavy discharge continued for 4-5 months after depo was stopped.

  2. YOu should really wait at least 2 periods before you try to have a baby. it’s healthy and the dr will say that too.

  3. I was on the shot for six months after those months were up I decided not to get another one because my hair was falling out alot, I also experienced some heavy discarge for like my first two periods and the first period took almost two months before I got it so I experienced it for almost four months all together I think it’s normal because once my body adjusted I no longer have the heavy discharge…don’t be too concerned with it unless it’s starts to have an odor then that may be a sign of infection.
