vaginal discharge question?

i’m 18 years old and i forgot about discharge i don’t remember about when i got this but um my little sister is 11 years old i think her period may be on the way…she says she has breast buds, a little bit of hair about (and one hair below) her vagina, and every once an a while she finds a couple of little white weird specks on her vagina. is this a small, beginning type of discharge or something??
Also, she wanted to add that she doesn’t know if her vagina size is normal. she says if she stretches it out as far as she can it’s like 3 inches is this normal for her age?

  1. Nurses are Angels says:

Yes. Glands inside your vagina and cervix make small amounts of fluid. This fluid flows out of the vagina each day, carrying out old cells that have lined the vagina. This is your body’s way of keeping your vagina healthy and clean. The discharge is usually clear or milky and doesn’t smell bad.

The color and thickness of the discharge change with your monthly cycle. The discharge is thicker when you ovulate (when one of your ovaries releases an egg), when you breastfeed or when you’re sexually excited.

SO BASICALLY ITS ALL BECAUSE HER HORMONES ARE CHANGING

Vagina sizes very person to person, just as male gentials do, everyone’s different.

  2. Sara M says:

    not sure

  3. Marguerite D says:

This happened to me as well. In most cases the white "stuff" is just old skin cells that are all being flushed out at one time. It is perfectly normal everything is leaving the body as your sister matures with the new hormones.

    Hope I helped,

    Maggie

P.S. I am happy that you two have such a good relationship together

  4. Laura G says:

girls don’t normally get discharge before puberty, and she’s definitely there. her body isn’t used to producing discharge yet and this is probably it trying to start.

  5. Stephanie says:

Vaginal discharge is normal and varies during your menstrual cycle. Before ovulation (the release of the egg), there is A LOT of mucous produced, up to 30X more than after ovulation. It is also more watery and elastic during that phase of your cycle. You may want to wear panty liners during that time.

The things to be worried about include if the discharge has a yellow or green color, is clumpy like cottage cheese, or has a bad odor. If worried, see a doctor.

White: Thick, white discharge is common at the beginning and end of your cycle. Normal white discharge is not accompanied by itching. If itching is present, thick white discharge can indicate a yeast infection.

Clear and stretchy: This is "fertile" mucous and means you are ovulating.

Clear and watery: This occurs at different times of your cycle and can be particularly heavy after exercising.

Yellow or Green: May indicate an infection, especially if thick or clumpy like cottage cheese or has a foul odor.

Brown: May happen right after periods, and is just "cleaning out" your vagina. Old blood looks brown.

Spotting Blood/Brown Discharge: This may occur when you are ovulating/mid-cycle. Sometimes early in pregnancy you may have spotting or a brownish discharge at the time your period would normally come. If you have spotting at the time of your normal period rather than your usual amount of flow, and you have had sex without using birth control, you should check a pregnancy test.

also it is normal for her age but discourage her to matrubate with objects that are bigger than average

Vaginal Discharge question?

I had just finished my period about two weeks ago. I have been taking birth control for the past 2 yrs and had just decided that I was going to revert back to condoms usage with my husband. I have not taken birth control for the past 3 weeks and I have been exerting and straining myself physically more these 3 weeks do to a resent move and deep carpet cleaning. I am aware of how my normal vaginal discharge consistency and texture is but the past couple of days I have been discharging slightly more fluid. I do not have any unusual odors and the discharge looks normal. My question is that because I normally have less discharge I wanted check in and see if this could at all be an early sign of pregnancy. All info I have read says increased vaginal discharge is normal nearing the later half of a pregnancy. I just needed some advice on if this could or couldn’t be pregnancy.

yes those are pregnancy symptoms . i think you should take a test a.s.a.p! good luck!!

  2. Lam Z says:

    i doubt it.

birth control messes with your hormones and so there will be after effects right after you come of the pill

  3. Beaniemae87 says:

Well, increased vaginal discharge could mean numerous things. Since you just got off bcp not too long ago, I would lean more toward the fact that your body is trying to even out its natural hormones. It also could be a sign of a bacterial infection. Usually when you have increased vaginal discharge, around this time in your cycle ( I’m assuming its a normal 28-30 day cycle) that you could be ovulating. Your cervical mucus gets thicker and more consistent when you’re ovulating. Being that you were on bcp before, you may not have had such an excessive amount because the hormones you were taking may have reduced that amount. *which could be along the same lines as why bcp’s make you have a shorter lighter period*
Then again, if you’ve only been using condoms..and possibly had a *slip-up* and didn’t use one at just the right time, it could indeed possibly be a sign of pregnancy. I hope I’ve helped you out and good luck :)

The first sign I knew I was pregnant was the increase in my cm. Im 9 weeks 1 day pregnant and still have it. Take a hpt. Good luck :o )

  5. Starlight*Angel says:

You said you just finished your period 2 weeks ago??
You are ovulating honey! You aren’t pregnant but this may be your fertile window to GET pregnant.. so if you want a baby you should start having sex NOW!

Here is information about discharge and what it means!

  6. lorch5 says:

Those are pregnancy symptons but also symptons that are common when coming off the pill. It is also common after coming off the pill for your cycle to be a little late or early too. So if you don’t get your period on time, maybe do a test.

Vaginal discharge question?

I know it is normal to get discharge, and its the vaginas way of cleaning itself but I think I get more than most people… How much should a woman get everyday? It is usually uncomfortable and sometimes I even have to wear a feminine hygiene product.

  1. lexie says:

    just wear a pantie liner

  2. Shania says:

It’s OK. It fluctuates, and some people get more than others. If it is uncomfortable you probably should wear a feminine hygiene product, but if you find yourself having to do so every day, you may want to go see a doctor. I doubt that there is anything seriously wrong as long as it is clear and not yellowish, but still. It’s better to be safe than sorry, right?

  3. Olivea says:

    go to the docs.

  4. ~???~ says:

Well all i can say is for me it differs each day. Like one day u might get alot, were it feels like u have to wear a thin pad and other days u might get none. Theres no right or wrong amount.

  5. Fia says:

If the odor is bad/rotten, then it is something out of the ordinary. Otherwise, you are just fine, please do not use anything to "clear" it up, you could mess up the special balance down there and cause infections. Let your body do it’s thing to keep you healthy and wear panty liners to keep cute undies clean.

  6. DeeDee says:

    Go to your GP.
As there is no "normal" amount of discharge. When going please as well if it smells, as it could be a infection.

  7. xsam4samx says:

I went to the doctor because I thought I was abnormal, I am sexually active but knew I hadn’t contracted a s.t.i because have only been with one partner. I had a swab taken for diseases and s.t.i’s and peeed in a pot, everything came back okay and I was told I may just have glands which produce more hormones. I don’t need to use panty liners but if you feel more comfortable definitely go for it!, If you visit the doctor they could give you more advice!

  8. woodnote says:

If you are worried that you are experiencing abnormal amounts of discharge, it’s best to check it out. The following signs and symptoms may indicate a presence of bacterial vaginosis:

    Abnormal amounts of vaginal discharge
Thick or thin amounts of vaginal discharge with a white or grey color
A strong, fish-like odor of the vagina (especially right after sexual intercourse)
A burning sensation sometimes while urinating
Itching and discomfort around the outside of the vagina

  2. Nurse For 20 Years says:

Wait a couple of weeks and if your regular period doesn’t come, get a pregnancy test.
In the meantime, buy some condoms and plan ahead next time. Either that or don’t have sex.

  3. Tasha J says:

i think its just ur period coming early ..
just wait 2 weeks and if its not here get a test done or go doctors and get a blood test (more acurate)

Vaginal discharge question?

I recently got out of the hospital with a serious kidney infection from a UTI, I have taken two different high dosages of antibiotics one right after the other just as the doctor at the hospital told me. It was sulfameth and cirpoflaxocin (sp?) followed with a prescribed AZO type medication to help with the burning.. Anyways, my back doesn’t hurt anymore (hurray!) and it doesn’t hurt/burn when I pee anymore (hurray!) HOWEVER, I do find myself having to pee a little more than I used to and it’s become more urgent. It doesn’t hurt WHEN I pee now but more like a tiny bit of discomfort after I pee, but it quickly goes away and it usually only ever is discomforting after I’ve been exercising or walking a lot.. Now, I have more vaginal discharge than usual. It’s always white and a little thick and it has a unpleasant odor…It doesn’t itch or hurt or anything at all. Only the discharge and occasional discomfort. I was wondering if anyone knew/had any helpful input on what it is? I’m almost 100% positive it isn’t an STD.. is this just normal and it will go away?

you might be getting a yeast infection from being on the antibiotics. they kill good and bad bacteria, so the normal bacteria in your vagina get all screwed up. eat alot of yogurt with the live cultures in it. that will replace what you have lost and also, you might want to get some diflucan or monistat. Good luck!

  2. k_princess84 says:

it might be a yeast infection. girls normally get them after antibiotics. HOWEVER if you tired yeast infection meds and you still have the problem i’m almost 100% sure it is an STD. i’m sorry but i just went thru the same thing. it was awful. it’s called Trichomoniasis. look it up, girls ALWAYS think it’s a yeast infection. it’s VERY uncomfortable and only gets worse with time. if you want to know more, let me know :)

Vaginal discharge question?!?

I have had my period for three year, it's regular and all that stuff. Anyways, every single day (and I mean EVERY single day) I get home from school and realize that my undies are really wet in the crotch area. It looks almost as if I've peed myself. It sort of smells but not so much. It's completely clear but sometimes it's a little whitish/yellowish. What is this? Is it normal? Should I tell my doctor? HELP ME!

  1. Chloe says:

That sounds normal to me. When it's not normal, you'll definitely know…(itchiness, lumpy discharge, very strong odour). Some women just have heavier discharge than others. I'm not sure if there is a whole lot you can do about it, but you can wear pantyliners if it makes you more comfortable. Other than that, just make sure you are cleaning well down below, changing your panties daily, and all that personal hygiene stuff.
    Hope this helps :]

  2. DJ says:

This can be your normal vaginal discharge. You should wear panty liners and change them whenever you feel a little wet. This is normal for many woman, but it wouldn't hurt to mention it to your doctor.

Vaginal Discharge Question…?

I've been on the nuva ring for about 6 months now, but continued to keep getting yeast infections over and over (which is quite common with people who use it) so as of late, I have decided to change birth control methods. Anyways, this is my first week without the ring and I'm getting a lot of discharge as if I'm having another yeast infection.. (which I was still expecting to have a yeast infection and treating it) but this time I noticed the discharge is much different then usual. I woke up this morning with discharge comming out of me which actually is the reason I woke. (It has to be bad if it comes out while your laying down) Also, it is the most foul smelling odor I've ever smelled. Not fishy, almost smells sour and very pungent. It's almost a pale grey, green or yellow color. I read up and it looks like it could be trichomoniasis or bacterial vaginosis (which I've had B.V. before) Im getting checked tomorrow but any comments, or people who've had similar symptoms?

Symptoms of infections are very similar so you will have to wait for the MD visit to have a real clue what it might be.

That is so odd. One would kind of figure that there would be slightly more! Maybe you just get vaginal discharge as a symptom of dehydration!

  2. Curious86 says:

It's most likely because you're cleaning out your body. You still have discharge, it's just not as thick, so you do not notice it as much.
