At 12:13 on October 9, the Long March II Ding rocket lifted the Venezuelan Remote Sensing Satellite No. 2 and successfully lifted off at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center. The satellite smoothly entered the planned orbit and the launch mission was a complete success.
This is the third satellite in the aerospace field between China and Venezuela following the Venezuelan One communication satellite in 2008 and the Venezuelan remote sensing satellite one in 2012.
Relevant leaders of higher departments, Lei Fanpei, Party Secretary and Chairman of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, General Manager and Deputy Secretary of the Party Leader Wu Yansheng, Party Member and Deputy General Manager Yang Baohua directed the launch at the launch site and in Beijing.
The Venezuelan Remote Sensing Satellite II (Venezuela 2 for short) was developed by the Aerospace Science and Technology Group Fifth Academy of Aerospace Dongfanghong Satellite Co., Ltd. It is the second remote sensing satellite exported by China to Venezuela.
Weiyao No. 2 contains a full-color / multispectral high-resolution camera and a short-wave / long-wave infrared camera, which realizes full-color, multispectral, large-field-of-view, and joint remote-ground remote sensing, and has all-day imaging capabilities. During the development of the satellite, China and Venezuela jointly undertook the design, assembly and testing of the satellite, and opened a new cooperation model.
After the satellite is successfully put into orbit, it will be used in Venezuela's land and resources census, environmental protection, disaster monitoring and management, crop estimation, and urban planning. It will play a positive role in developing the national economy, improving people's lives, and promoting social progress.
The launch was carried out in accordance with a project contract signed by China Great Wall Industry Group Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, and the Ministry of Higher Education and Technology of Venezuela in October 2014. According to the agreement between the two parties, Great Wall will work with sub-contractors such as launch vehicles, satellites, launch measurement and control, and ground applications to complete the design, development, final assembly, testing, and launch of the "Yuanyao-2" satellite. Supporting ground measurement and control, receiving, data processing and distribution systems.
The successful launch of the Venyao-2 satellite is a new breakthrough for China ’s remote sensing satellites to “go global”, which will further promote the joint development of international industries such as remote sensing satellites, launch vehicles, remote sensing ground applications, remote sensing data and image services. At the same time, the in-depth cooperation between China and Venezuela also provides a good reference for China's aerospace innovation cooperation model.
The Long March II Ding rocket was developed by the Eighth Academy of Aerospace Science and Technology Group. This launch is the 33rd launch of the Long Erding rocket and the 252nd flight of the Long March series of launch vehicles.
The successful launch of the Chang'er Ding rocket laid a solid foundation for the orderly development of subsequent model missions. Group companies will continue to "grasp quality" and "ensure success" to greet the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. 来源：中国航天科技集团公司 ） ( Source: China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation )
