Smelly vagina and discharge for days after sex, what can I do?

After sex with my partner my vagina and discharge is very smelly for the next few days, but then if I don't have sex with him for a week or so then it is no way as bad. It's not really itchy down there although I am completely shaven so if there is at all it is most likely to be that.
The discharge is kind of yellowy in colour and it is definately not my period, as I had that last week.
Is it my partner or me? How can I get rid of it without having to go to the doctors because it is so embarassing I don't want a doctor inspecting me! Also, are vaginas usually smelly the morning after sex??
i have unprotected sex

It depends on the type of smell… Is it a fishy smell? If so then I it's possible that you have bacterial vaginosis. The main symptom of bv is a very strong fishy odor in your discharge. This gets worse around your period and during/after sex which would explain why you smell it so strongly after intercourse. Even though you don't want to, go to your doctors and get this checked out. I know how embarrassing it can be, I've been there several times before. But if this is what it is then it's easily curable with a prescription for flagyl which is a pill you take twice a day for a week, there is no over the counter cure. And if this is what it is you want to get it treated as soon as possible because it can cause pelvic inflammatory disease if left untreated. Before you go, you can always buy one of those monistat testing kits to see what type of infection you have

I think it is a mixture of the vagina's natural lubricating "juices" (for want of a better word – it does make it sound like gravy…) and the semen. I get this too the morning after sex, but the first poster may be right in that it could be something to do with bacterial vaginosis.

Are you having sex without a condom and is he ejaculating inside of you? This could explain the smell. For some reason some women find that if their partners semen smells a lot if it is inside them for too long. If this is the case, try having a shower straight after sex or use a bidet (say ba-day) which you can get from chemists.

Other than that you may be transferring urinary tract infections between each other. Unfortunately you will have to go to your doctor for this because you will need to take antibiotics. If you are doing this at the doctors, your may as well get them to test for STIs. From your symptoms I think it is unlikely, but if you are having unprotected sex then you should anyway.

If you are using a condom then I'm sorry I don't know what it is unless it is a latex smell? or the smell of the lubricant? Remember doctors see this kind of stuff all the time so there is no need to be embarrassed. If you are worried about it, see your doctor. :D
