I was diagnosed with bacterial vaginosis but the thing is, I hadn't had sex in two months. And before that guy I wasn't with anyone for almost two years. I took some antibiotics but now my bowels are so often and have mucus in them and my stomach cramps really bad. I have an amazing diet and workout every single day…I don't get what is going on? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

BV can be caused by any number of things and sadly, most doctors are at a loss to know how a woman can catch it. Usually BV happens when the Ph balance in the vagina is off, even slightly, allowing the "bad" bacteria to out grow the "good" bacteria. It's not sexually transmitted, and any little disruption can cause the Ph to shift. If you've been douching, STOP, that upsets the natural flora of the vagina, and if you've been using scented soaps or body washes near or on your genitals stop that as well. Sometimes toilet paper can be scented as well, which can be an irritant.
BV is usually treated with antibiotics but for some women it can become chronic. If it does, then you might try to find a gyno who's a specialist in bacteria to try and help you figure out what's going on with your body and why the bacteria is growing. The alternative is spending lots of money on antibiotics that might not work.
Good luck.
There are a few common causes, but like the previous poster, its really hard to pinpoint. Sorry….
I found an article you could read about common causes.
