better you’re here than on /b/

  2. the_xfragile says:

    It’s called soap.

  3. ~ Cuddle Fox ~ says:

It depends on what’s making it stinky. If it’s a yeast infection, something like Monistat will help. If it’s bacterial vaginosis (a strong fishy smell is its hallmark), you need to see a doctor.

    @Obvious: You broke Rules 1 and 2.

  4. Nils baby sister says:

Reduce your diet of sugar and carbs, they increase the yeast/candida in the vagina. Drinks loads of water, you will notice a big difference within 2-3 days.

  5. The Doc Next Door!!! says:

The causes of a "stinky vagina" that click in my mind right now are bacterial vaginosis, vaginal odor, sperm and menstruation, sexually transmitted diseases, toxic shock syndrome, pheromones, crotch odor and smegma.
Personal hygiene is most profound for any woman, if the vagina is not cleansed regularly then expect the vagina to emit more of its natural releases therefore causing the actual vaginal odour to become pungent which can be unpleasant or embarrassing

To help prevent this from happening cleaning the vagina should include the inside as well as the out. Did you know the vagina itself is an odourless organ and does not generate smell, however without washing, bacteria and parasites can enter the vagina, thus causing vaginal odour.

Prevention of bacterial build up can prove to be difficult, but there are ways to stem parasite intrusion i.e. entering the vagina. A common question asked by women is "Why does my vagina smell" or "I wash regular and I still can smell a horrible stink" This is perfectly normal, but of course it all depends on what type of vaginal odour is present and causing the pong
Bacteria, parasites, and yeasts inside the vagina generate odours through waste or by product therefore causing a distinctive vaginal smell. Women who suffer from this condition explain the smell from this orifice as a repulsive fishy smell.

Bacterial vaginosis can be the cause of the ‘fishy’ odour from the vagina. It is an infection and may need treatment. The vagina does not smell even during menstruation, however if at the time of a monthly cycle it can do if not thoroughly cleaned. Vaginal odour may well be caused by an infection and especially if the smell is of the disgusting type. The vagina is a part of the body which is very sensitive – so therefore be extra careful if you tend on using over the counter medication to treat the problem. Speak to your doctor or pharmacist first.

The vagina is an organ of the body that is self cleaning. Think of your vagina like a self cleaning oven. Cleaning the vulva needs nothing more than water. Remember that when using products containing certain chemicals which are unsuitable can do more harm than good. Chemical inclusion in some products which come in contact with the vulva can strip the vulva of its natural oils leaving it dry and often irritated and prone to infection such as yeast infections. Always follow instructions on any product packaging and follow accordingly. Chemicals can be potentially dangerous especially if they find their way into the urethra causing urinary tract infections. Chemical based products in the vagina can disrupt the natural PH of the vagina, which causes an overgrowth of anaerobic bacteria, genital mycoplasmas, and gardnerella vaginalis, with reduced or absent lactobacilli. Another symptom of infection which causes vaginal odours is a change in colour of discharge, the amount you lose and thickness.

Any unusual goings on in or around the vaginal area where you feel discomfort using the toilet i.e. a pain when urinating should always be checked out by your doctor. Do not be embarrassed to talk to your GP about your vaginal odour. What could be more embarrassing than telling your doctor or have your friend turn up their nose when you sit down.

Please consult your GP if symptoms persist as I am giving you advice over the internet and have not seen you. As I said, it could be a number of things which is causing this.

  6. Beachbaby022 says:

You might have a yeast infection…..you should use cream or wipes….

  7. FiveFootFlirt.blogspot.com says:

Okay, Darling. First, it depends on what kind of "odor" we're talking about. The normal "perfume" of your vagina won't ever go away, so it is what it is. If it's beyond normal and has a tart scent, then you really should establish a relationship with a good gynecologist. You may have a mild yeast infection, a cyst that's secreting fluid slowly or a number of other minor health-related issues that could be contributing to the scent.

Keep notes for your doctor, too. It's so useful to go in there and be able to give dates, changes and whatever else you notice to help your doctor give you a good diagnosis.

Lastly, please don't start relying on scented spray and douches. It only masks the underlying issue and that's what you want to get to.

As a friendly example, I am allergic to latex condoms (just found this out 3 years ago and I'm FORTY) and before I discovered polyurethane condoms, I'd always itch awhile after sex and then get "smelly". Turns out that for me, all I had to do was switch condoms. That relieved the itchiness after sex and the discharge afterward. Voila!

Establish a relationship with a gynecologist you trust. A smart girl's BFF.

maybe you are just mistaking the odur for the natural musky, normal smell of a vagina ?

  2. BumbleBee says:

some people just smell more than others. you could try wearing scented pantyliners

  3. arielle. alexis. says:

its normal for that to smell musky. if your doctors say nothning is wrong, then your fine. people really don't notice it. it might go away with time. your fine! :)

  4. beautiful680 says:

I really wouldn't worry about it. Even if you ask most men about smell they'll say it's sexy. The normal smell of a vagina isn't a bad thing, embrace it as being a woman!

  5. Trying4Baby18 says:

Your dr is right do NOT use douche or powder.. it washes away your natural flora from your vagina that protects your body from forming an infection. What you can try is use summers eve personal cleanser when you bathe. or there are many different types of personal cleansing cloths that you can use .. all women have a natural odor..yours may just be a little stronger. Dont worry about it that much.. I always used the personal cleanser that i buy at walmart and when i have my cycle i use babywipes to cleanse myself even when i dont have it just to fell fresh.. hope that i could help you

  6. pinky says:

well you should try using underwears made out of cotton and try not to use tight underwears cause sweat can cause the smell also shave a pubic hair and wash with summer eves wash and that should help

  7. gypsyveg says:

Every person has their own 'scent' (musky) and it will smell stronger to you than to others.

  1. opal1331 says:

See your gyn, it could be in your diet or a simple infection.

  2. cheriberi5671 says:

If the odor smells "fishy" or you have a heavy discharge hotfoot it to the doc, it may be B.V. (bacterial vaginosis). It clears up simply with a round of antibiotics. You may also have a yeast infection if you have a cottage-cheese like discharge. Doctors recommend NOT douching anymore as it changes the pH balance in your vagina. It is a self-cleaning organ and under normal circumstances is healthy.

  3. Bethanie 3 says:

You're probably over washing, this can be as bad as underwashing. Douching is actually bad for you as it flushes out ur natural discharge which helps to eliminate the bad odours and dead cells in the first place, it can also dry you out. Just bathe once a day or every two days, wear clean cotton underwear and try to avoid really tight clothing when possible.
    Hope this helps. x

  4. carobygirl says:

Vaginas should never smell bad. See a doctor.

  5. harley_cowgirl_20 says:

I'd go to the doctor and ask them cuz if u did all that and still smell you might have a yeast infection or something.

  6. curvysparkie says:

I agree with others, but have you ever tried eating yogurt before and during your period? If you're susceptible to yeast infections, eating yogurt helps to control the Candida (vaginal yeast infection) in your system. It really does work. The body is full of mysteries and miracles…

But also see a doctor. There could be other issues also… Better to be safe than sorry.

  7. Timeree says:

Every woman has their own scent. But it shouldn't be pungent. See your doctor to rule out any illnesses. I am sure you're just over washing. Take care & no worries :)
