    Sounds like bacterial vaginosis.
You need to see a doctor.

It sounds like you have bacterial vaginosis. Fishy smell of the vagina is a tell tale sign, unfortunately. There’s a couple of ways you can treat it. First being going to your gyno and getting the prescription gel, or if you don’t want to wait for an appointment, you can buy VH Essentials BV treatment from Amazon.com, CVS or Walgreens. I’ve had it before, and it’s not fun. Good luck!

  4. Larkin L says:

    See a doctor.

Different types of infections, which a girl can get at any time:

    Signs of yeast infections:
    White, cottage cheese-like discharge
Swelling and pain around the vulva
    Intense itching
    Buy Monistat 7 over-the-counter

    Signs of bacterial vaginosis:
A white, gray or yellowish vaginal discharge
A fishy odor that is strongest after sex or after washing with soap
    Itching or burning
Slight redness and swelling of the vagina or vulva
    See a doctor

  5. Edith says:

Vaginal itching and fishy-smelling vaginal discharge indicate a possible vaginal infection. I would suggest that you talk to your doctor about this for immediate treatment. I also found some online posts that may give you more info about similar problems.

Do I have a vaginal infection?

This is gross I know, but I need help and I’m too embarassed to ask my mom. I’m 15 by the way. Okay so I first off it’s been itchy and there is some discharge. I’m a very clean person, I shower twice a day most days and it’s always clean. I don’t know what this is, and I really hope it’s nothing serious.

You seem to have a basic UTI. Urinary Tract Infection. Most times its due to not drinking enough water.

Soak in the tub for 30 mins..1-2x’s a day. Drink a shit load of water. Keep it dry down there. Itchy means it moist. Discharge means its trying to clean itseld. Its called Douching.

Drink Cranberry Juice. Plain Cranberry Juice. No added sugers to the drink. Sugar feeds infection. Don’t stress to much, its not a big deal.

do i have a vaginal infection ?

I was a virgin before I met my girl friend. I think technically I still am because although she’s fingered me about 3 times, it still hurts every time. I did some research and I think It’s because my hymen isn’t broken yet. Anyways I didn’t get my period that month the first time we did it. I bled once on one day but before and after I didn’t bleed at all. Then we did it a second time, same thing happened. This third time I didn’t get my period yet. This is all in a month and a half. I also have a rash on the side but I think it just might be bad razor burn. I am really concerned, I need an opinion of someone who knows this stuff. I will go to the doctors as soon as possible, I can go without letting anyone know because I drive and I am 18. Please help me, I will be grateful!

Do I have a vaginal infection?

When ever I shower and clean down there, it still smells a little bit even after I’ve cleaned my vagina. When I’m ovulating the discharge has a light brown tint to it. I’m not sexually active or anything like that. It’s never itchy either. But no matter how often I shower it still smells a little bit.

  1. Dillon says:

Your vagina always has a characteristic smell. It has nothing to do with being unclean. It resembles a little like raw fish. It will not go away by washing it in the shower. If you really want to get rid of the smell then dab yourself with a little bit of baby powder. You will be able to suppress your smell.

Do i have a vaginal infection.?

K so,
I get discharge VERY VERY VERY often. Like theres discharge in my underwear like 2 minutes after changing my underwear. It gets highly annoying because (not to be gross) it’s so wet and uncomfortable. My vagina has a really strong and pungeant smell… I wash my body regularly with soap in the shower too. Every once in a while, maybe twice a month, my vag gets really irritated like red/itchy/stingy/sore. Sorry if this question is graphic xD. MOST of my discharge is clear or white, but once in a while it’s yellowish. The discharge has a slight smell. What do you think?
This has been going on for possibly a year. Last year, I told my mom about it and went to the doctor’s TWICE. I got swabbed and everything, and they said I had no infection; but based on my symptoms I think I might have one anway. Help!! Thankyouu~

  1. Morgan says:

yes you do cus thats what i have jw can u have sex cus u have that ?

  2. Margaret says:

you may possibly, you should go get some vagisil, or maybe thats just it cleaning its self

  3. caireen says:

if you had a swab that came back negative i would say you don’t. all vaginas have a discharge- the amount and consistency changes depending on where you are in menstrual cycle.
if there’s a strong (bad or fishy) smell though it sounds kinda like bacterial vaginosis. don’t get vagisil or anything unless you’re certain you have a problem- you don’t want to upset the balance of bacteria/yeast in your vagina.
sorry to not be able to give you more advice! maybe check with the doctor again- see a ob-gyn? good luck!

  4. Miss Sophie. says:

If everything is OK at the doctors and you clean regularly, perhaps try changing your diet? Apparently, if a guy eats a certain type of food, eventually his semen starts to taste like it, and taste and smell are related. So with this theory, maybe it will work with women :)

Odd advice I know lol =P

  5. cold milk says:

Discharge is normal, it’s your body’s way of keeping itself clean.
When you say about the smell, it doesn’t necessarily mean you have an infection. Vaginas are meant to have a kind of musky smell. However, if you say it’s really strong, that could indicate a problem.
Try drinking cranberry juice, and apply natural yoghurt.
In the meantime, just wear pantyliners.

  6. Larkin L says:

You sound like a normal girl to me.

Once you start puberty a white and/or clear wet mucous discharge is normal. The vagina is self-cleaning. This same discharge increases the closer you get to ovulation and when you are sexually aroused. Trust me, you don’t ever want it to go away. It is what makes sex possible. You will also have your own scent – musky – and it will smell stronger to you than to others.

You can have this normal discharge for weeks, months or even years before getting your first period. It will also continue after you get your period. You can wear a pantyliner if it bothers you. Some girls do produce more discharge than others.

The amount and consistency of your discharge is effected by diet, water intake, hormones, exercise, medication and illness. Also, your normal white/clear discharge will turn yellow or dry yellow when exposed to air. If it is coming out yellow, you probably have a bacterial infection and need to see a doctor to be treated.

    Different Types of Discharge:

White: Thick, white discharge is common at the beginning and end of your cycle. Normal white discharge is not accompanied by itching. If itching is present, thick white discharge can indicate a yeast infection.

Clear and stretchy: This is "fertile" mucous and means you are ovulating.

Clear and watery: This occurs at different times of your cycle and can be particularly heavy after exercising.

Yellow or Green: May indicate an infection, especially if thick or clumpy like cottage cheese or has a foul odor.

Spotting Blood/Brown Discharge: May happen right after periods, and is just "cleaning out" your vagina. Old blood looks brown. This may occur when you are ovulating/mid-cycle.

    Different types of infections:

    Signs of yeast infections:
    White, cottage cheese-like discharge
Swelling and pain around the vulva
    Intense itching

    Signs of bacterial vaginosis:
A white, gray or yellowish vaginal discharge
A fishy odor that is strongest after sex or after washing with soap
    Itching or burning
Slight redness and swelling of the vagina or vulva

These past two days my vagina has been very itchy and is slightly red and has 2 cuts that arent that big. I'm on birth control if that is a possible reasson, and i have sex about 2 times a week. It isn't that painful to urinate, but somtime it kindoff irritates the cuts. it doesent smell necissarily bad, but it smells different then it normally does. Sorry if this is gross, i just want to know if anyone can relate this to an infection…

sounds like a Yeast infection. Yeast infections make you very itchy. I have had them before too. I hate them too.

They have stuff called monostat 3 for yeast infections and that should help the itchy or even AZO for yeast infections help when I have them too. Try drinking cranberry juice too its helps you not get them.

  2. C K says:

    Cuts? Or Tears?

Sounds like you may have a fungal infection. You should see your GYN.

If you can't see a GYN, I agree with the above. Get some Monostat and drink cranberry juice (the kind without added sugar). You can also wash/rinse the outside with a solution of vinegar and water. Use 3 tablespoons of vinegar to 1 quart of warm water.

make sure not wearing ur thongs the wroong way round. Also take some anti biotics that gets rid of infections. Goto the chemist and just ask them they will tell you its quite common

We are always trying to find ways of getting out going to the doctor. Are you hurting anywhere near right lower back if not then I do not know what to tell you except this is not normal.

  4. otj1 says:

My wife used to have the same predicament as you. Normally it would go away a few days before the onset of your menstrual period. This is usually a sign that your body is ovulating. This is what some ob-gynes call your "wet period" or the period when you will likely get pregnant after sex. Your "dry period" is that in which your chance of getting pregnant after sex is nil.

This may not be a symptom of UTI, since you are not experiencing pain or burning sensation when urinating. This is more of a vaginal discharge (which is different from a discharge due to yeast infection wherein the vagina has a yellowish/white discharge).

Try using a pH-balanced feminine wash…it worked for my wife, so I do not see any reason why it will not work for you.

You may also see a gynecologist if you wish, to cast out your fears of having UTI (which is most unlikely that you have).

  5. jeanette s says:

I think what you have is a bladder infection. drink plenty of water and wash down bellow but do not use soap and do not but on any cream down there because you will make the matter worse. if it is the same in a couple of days go and see your doctor………..

For a few women, a yeast infection can go away on it’s own just after their period. You can try probiotics and UNsweetened Yogurt, but it takes longer for them to work. You can also buy Monistat over-the-counter at any drug store or grocery store. If you are unsure, go to the doctor.
