I am 9 weeks pregnant and had my very first pregnancy lab work done several days ago. My nurse contacted me today to tell me that my lab work came back perfect, except for a culture from my urine sample, which shows bacterial vaginosis (garderella). I’m just wondering how common this is, and if this frequently happens? I also have not felt any symptoms, or noticed anything different. The only reason I ask is because I have never had this come back from a pap or had any type of yeast infection or infection in that area throughout my life thus far. I also have only had one sexual partner, my husband, who also has not had more than one secual partner other than myself.
The medication that my nurse said she would recommend to treat this is the antibiotic metronidazole. I’m a little concerned about taking this in pregnancy? What are your thoughts/personal experience?
Thank you for your help!
