I had it too and treated it with the same thing you’ve been prescribed. It was really simple. I didn’t go in labor early, actually I had to be induced.

    found good info here…

I’ve had to take Metronidazole twice (two seperate BV diagnoses, two 7 day treatments) so far in my pregnancy, and I had the same concern as you. I talked to my OB about it and he assured me that if there was any chance the medication would cause a pregnancy complication, I wouldn’t have been prescribed it to begin with. Actually there is a bigger chance of preterm labor/delivery if you DON’T get treated for BV. I have to be screened for it every 4 weeks to make sure it doesn’t come back, because if it goes untreated for too long it can cause complications. You’re fine taking that medication, no worries.

Bacterial vaginosis and pregnancy?

19w5d. I plan to talk to my OB about this on Thursday, but I'd just like to hear some opinions/thoughts before then. I woke up at 1 in the morning with severe abdominal pain. It was so bad that I was nauseous and couldn't stand up straight. I called my OB and was told to go to the ER. There, I found out I have bacterial vaginosis. This is the second time I've had it so far in my pregnancy. I was put back on Flagyl to treat it. I read up on complications BV can cause in pregnancy, and now I'm really worried. Women who have BV during pregnancy are at a higher risk for preterm delivery, miscarriage, and early membrane rupture (I don't remember the specific term for it). I know this doesn't mean that EVERY woman that has BV during pregnancy will have complications, but this is my second time already! I'm so worried. Anyone else had bacterial vaginosis during pregnancy and gone on to deliver a full-term baby?

Typically the problems only occur if you have BV that's left untreated for a while. You've been on two courses of Flagyl so you should be fine. Just make sure your doctor keeps an eye on it and make sure it doesn't come back.

I have heard of this condition, I haven't had it myself. I just know that they treat it with medication, but that there is a chance of it coming back. I also heard that if you have it when you go into labour, you have to have a c-section. Hopefully you will get rid of it, and everything will be ok. Good luck, and congrats on your baby.
My question is about complications during pregnancy too, if you can answer it:

bacterial vaginosis and pregnancy?

(im using my friends account)

I am 4 months pregnant and I just found out (irregular periods). So I went for my first doctor checkup and they said I have bacterial vaginosis. He gave me antibiotics for it and sent me on my way.
My question is.. If i had bacterial vaginosis before I was pregnant… and had it the whole time and it wasnt treated till now.. did it do any harm to my baby??

If there were any immediate danger to the baby, you're doctor would have told you so. The antibiotics will clear it up, and you should be fine, all though you may be checked more often to see if it comes back.

  2. JustMeTiff says:

No in 2 of my previous pregnancies I found out I had this and there was no harm to the baby at all. The only harm this infection can do to the baby is if you have it when they exit through the birth canal, and actually come in contact with the infection. You will be fine and the baby too. Just make sure you finish the antibiotic the doctor gave you so you don't have to take any more in the future. Congratulations and best wishes on your pregnancy ?

  3. Finding out boy/girl on the 4th says:

guys can have this too and transmit it to girls. Make sure whoever you had sex with and got preg that he gets treated too so he doesn't pass it back to you.

    congrats on your baby!
