Im now 26weeks pregnant and have just being diagnosed with bacterial vaginosis (BV), i worried as ive been prescribed metronidazole 400mg, ive read in a studywith 900 women 62% of those gave birth between 27-36 weeks, my doctor didnt explain any risks and really wasnt sure what to do about treating me whilst pregnant and my midwife seemed to brush past it when i started to show concern.
i was wondering if anyone had ever had this in pregnancy and there experience of it please help thanks x

I had it too and treated it with the same thing you’ve been prescribed. It was really simple. I didn’t go in labor early, actually I had to be induced.
found good info here…
I’ve had to take Metronidazole twice (two seperate BV diagnoses, two 7 day treatments) so far in my pregnancy, and I had the same concern as you. I talked to my OB about it and he assured me that if there was any chance the medication would cause a pregnancy complication, I wouldn’t have been prescribed it to begin with. Actually there is a bigger chance of preterm labor/delivery if you DON’T get treated for BV. I have to be screened for it every 4 weeks to make sure it doesn’t come back, because if it goes untreated for too long it can cause complications. You’re fine taking that medication, no worries.
